Heart of Hope is a 501© 3 non-profit organization dedicated to serving the community of the West End of Rock Island.
Our Statement of Faith
“Heart of Hope Ministries is a non-denominational fellowship of believers. We believe in the fullness of the Word of God from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation. We believe that the Bible is the inspired, anointed Word of God, given to believers as instruction and revelation of the heart and desire of a Holy God for those who will believe in Him and His resurrected son, Jesus Christ. We believe His Word teaches us Godly principles and commands to make disciples of all men, to come alongside those that are hurting and struggling and share with them the testimony of God’s love. We believe the revelation of God’s love and the witness of His Holy Spirit will draw the unbeliever into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that will transform lives and give Hope and Healing to the Hurting.”
Heart of Hope Ministries was birthed over 20 years ago through a God-given vision to Heart of Hope Founder and Pastor, Lynda Sargent, Lynda Sargent. The miraculous revelations of the vision created a passion that engraved itself upon Lynda’s heart.
On January 1, 2009 two friends visited Lynda and prayed with her before leaving her home. Lynda felt the voice of God was speaking to her “Launch into the Deep.” In pursuit of genuine obedience to God, Heart of Hope Ministries was birthed!
Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State of Illinois in July of 2009 and the Internal Revenue Service granted a 501(c) (3) non-profit status in August of 2010.
Heart of Hope Ministries is a ministry that crosses denominational lines and racial gender, age, and economic background barriers, with one common factor to glue us together…our love for the Lord…and His desire that we show and demonstrate His love to others.
It is the belief of Heart of Hope that the Lord will give us “Homes of Refuge” for those in need, and businesses that will rebuild and restore the west-end neighborhoods of Rock Island. These businesses will provide employment and training to those who may have been incarcerated, or have other reasons that have limited their employment, economic and empowerment opportunities.
As Heart of Hope Ministries strives toward the fulfillment of the vision God has given, we correspondingly serve other organizations in our community. Bible studies are held for ladies at the Rock Island County Jail and, for the past three years, Heart of Hope has served meals at the Christian Care Men’s Rescue Mission located in downtown Rock Island. The Heart of Hope Ministry Team also prepares and serves the youth who frequent the Christian Friendliness Youth Hope Center in Rock Island.
Through our service, we are building relationships that go beyond the meal serving with the gentlemen who reside at Christian Care and the teens who visit Christian Friendliness. Numerous and frequent other acts of kindness, service, financial assistance, devotion of time and prayer have been given to those in need over the Last four years.
In August of 2013 we were blessed to have a beautiful, brick office building donated to Heart of Hope by retired physician Dr. Myron Fields. At our current location of 1740 9th Avenue, Rock Island, we offer Bible Studies, Prayer, and individual Ministry Opportunities.
On May 1st we opened a Food Pantry and Clothing Ministry to serve the community during evening hours. Since opening we have experienced a steady increase of residents using this service. In the first month alone,
we distributed over 500 food items to families and numerous clothing and household items!
We also offer a small computer lab and resource library to residents in need of computer services or who would like to borrow Christian books, CDs, tapes and training materials.
Heart of Hope Ministries Church was launched in May of 2014 and meets at the Christian Friendliness Youth Hope Center at 2707 11th Street, Rock Island. Services began at 10:30 PM on Sundays and all are welcome!
THE VISION…THE LORD HAS GIVEN FOR HEART OF HOPE MINISTRIES IS BASED ON SCRIPTURE FOUND IN THE BOOK OF…
Isaiah, Chapter 58 & Chapter 61 Then you will be called, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, Here I am.
If you take away from your midst yokes of oppression …And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness…And the Lord shall guide you continually and satisfy you in drought and in dry places…And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of buildings that have Laid waste for many generations; and you call be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
